JESUS CHRIST WAS IN THE HEART OF THE EARTH

THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS

Mark said: “And Jesus began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.” Mark 8:31

And so they did; on Friday the 15^th day of Abib, Luke said: “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” Luke 23:33

Meanwhile Luke said: “And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just: [51] (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God. [52] This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. [53] And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.” Luke 23:50-53 

Mark said the women went to the sepulcher where they encountered an Angel: “And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.”

Mark 16:6  

Now this document was designed to show that, even though Joseph buried the Body of JESUS on Friday evening of the fifteenth day of the Jewish month Abib and GOD raised Him from the dead early the following Sunday morning; that meant that He lie in Joseph’s tomb approximately thirty-six hours.

Now the Scripture never presents us with a problem that it doesn’t provide the answer, and therefore this is no exception.  

Yea, there is an event that GOD brought about while Moses and the children of Israel were in Egypt.  Well, let’s let Moses tell it.
He began with: And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:  They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” Exodus 10:21-23

Yea, since those three days served as light in Israel, even so at the same time they dispensed darkness in Egypt; and served as a type and a figure of the thirty-six hours JESUS lie in the tomb

And since JESUS lie dead for thirty six-hour and counted twice over then that accounted for the fulfillment of the three days and three nights prophecy.

There is yet another means whereby the three days and three night prophecy can be had in truth and that is where JESUS asked: “Are there not twelve hours in the day?”  (John 11:9)

Yea, and since there is twelve hours in the day, of necessity there are twelve hours of night during a twenty four hour day.

With that JESUS established a means where the answer can be had through calculation.

Yea, He was in the tomb thirty-six hours alright for the Kingdom of light, while at the same time He was there thirty-six hours for the kingdom of darkness.

And seeing that they ran concurrently, when combined we came up with three days and three nights.
