THE OLD SABBATH AND THE NEW CHRISTIAN
SABBATH
After
creating Heaven and earth in six days the LORD GOD rested and established the
Sabbath.
Moses
wrote: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
“And
God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the
evening and the morning were the sixth day.” Genesis 1:31
And
on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the
seventh day from all his work which he had made.” Genesis 2:2
And
GOD said: “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of
rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of
the Lord in all your dwellings.” Leviticus 23:3
And
therefore the LORD told Moses: “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the
Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:11
Yea,
JESUS brought in a better way for observing the Sabbath.
After
completing the work that the FATHER sent Him to do, He was Crucified on a
Friday and was buried the same the next day being the Old Testament Sabbath,
and His Body being at a complete rest He
fulfilled the Old Sabbath ,and seeing that completed His bodily work then GOD
raised Him from the dead on the first day of the week establishing the New
Christian Sabbath.
Then
there is where JESUS told His peers: “Verily I say unto you, There be some
standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man
coming in his kingdom.” Matthew 16:28
The
LORD told Moses: “And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the
sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths
shall be complete: [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye
number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.”
Leviticus 23:15-16
Then
there is Pentecost, after doing the math you see that JESUS came in His Kingdom
on the first day of the week which is to say on the Christian Sabbath.
And
upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break
bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued
his speech until midnight.” Acts 20:7
